Santa Clara, California. -- June 2017 — Enluxtra Self-Adaptive wound dressing was brought into the spotlight in the recent lecture on continuous autolytic debridement at the 2017 Western Foot and Ankle conference. This presentation earned CME credits to all attendees and focused on benefit comparison for different types of wound debridement.
The presenter, Alexander R. Reyzelman DPM, who, among his other impressive regalia, is the Co-Director at the UCSF Center for Limb Preservation, shared the outcomes of several studies where self-adaptive dressings were used.
Wounds with slough, biofilm and chronic exudate that persisted despite numerous surgical debridement procedures and various other therapies, have shown dramatic healing progress when switched to self-adaptive dressing treatment.
Rapid clearing of the wounds without the use of additional products indicated the strong support of continuous natural autolytic debridement that self-adaptive dressing was able to provide throughout the healing continuum.
Natural autolytic debridement is often overlooked in favor of more invasive and presumably more effective debridement choices. As the lecture materials confirm, there is no definitive evidence that one type of debridement is better than others.
In the presented cases, however, it was evident that continuous autolytic debridement, supported by the self-adaptive dressing, resolved the wounds that were previously resistant to other methods of clearing the wounds.
Smart polymer self-adaptive technology might be the answer to boosting the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Continuous natural autolytic debridement can and should be the preferred method for clearing wound biofilm and necrotic tissue via natural physiological processes.
Self-adaptive dressing is able to support these processes at all times while the dressing is kept on the wound through optimizing the moist healing environment that is conducive to autolytic debridement.
Self-adaptive technology unique to Enluxtra brand products is being used widely at leading national medical centers, such as UCSF, SFGH, Baylor Health and many others. Enluxtra dressings are manufactured to the highest industry standards, FDA-registered, and covered under Medicare Part B.

About ENLUXTRA:
- ENLUXTRA Self-Adaptive Wound Dressing is the first self-regulating super-absorbent fiber dressing with built-in on-demand hydration.
- Innovative self-adaptive technology enables ENLUXTRA to re-start and complete healing of difficult or non-healing wounds.
- ENLUXTRA uses “smart” feedback-driven materials that functionally adapt to match unpredictably changing wound conditions. This adaptability makes ENLUXTRA suitable for wounds of any etiology (including burns), and of any drainage level — from minimal to high.
- ENLUXTRA is designed for long wear time and fewer dressing changes. Its absorbency is approximately 2 times higher than any dressing on the market. Its material locks in the absorbed exudate, and does not release it under pressure, preventing skin maceration. Further, ENLUXTRA supports intensive natural autolytic debridement, and microbial and odor reduction.
- ENLUXTRA dressings significantly decrease treatment time, material, and inventory expenses, reduce cost of care, and help improve quality measures.
