| By age 32, Marqus has been hospitalized over a hundred times for multiple sickle cell complications. About 4 years ago, when their family home was flooded, Marqus got a small cut on his foot which turned into years of wound treatments and a search for a better solution to wound care. Marqus’ mother and registered nurse, Fran, turned to the internet to find something new. “We have used everything on the market, but I knew there had to be something new.” Fran found Enluxtra on Facebook and ordered free samples. To their surprise, Enluxtra turned out to be a product they could only dream about. Marqus said, “Enluxtra has been a godsend. Dressing changes are easy and painless. Enluxtra works much better than any other dressing I’ve used. It goes on easy. It comes off easy. It acts almost like a wound VAC, reserving the loose slough.” |
Fran also emphasized ease of use, speed of healing, and noted Enluxtra’s superior absorbency affirming, “It’s like a NPWT that comes in a foil pouch!”
If you or someone you know is living with sickle cell disease, you are already aware that leg ulcers are a chronic problem, healing slowly over months or even years. Enluxtra wound dressing reduces healing time, decreases the likelihood of infection, and eliminates the pain from dressing changes.
Hosted by Howard University Center for Sickle Cell Disease and Faces of Our Children, Inc., this year’s Stomp Out Sickle Cell Walk had the largest turnout ever, with more participants than the recent Chicago event. The District of Columbia has the highest incidence rate of babies born with sickle cell disease and trait compared to the 50 states. Attended by teams from around the country, this year’s walk also drew attention from news organizations and local, state and federal officials interested in improving the lives of those with the disease.
You can learn more about the Sick Cells project at www.sickcells.com. Enluxtra hopes everyone will support walks like these as well as raise awareness for better testing, genetic counseling, education and more research to provide better care for those with SCD.
Patients suffering from poor circulation symptoms due to diabetes, venous insufficiency, peripheral arterial disease, can benefit from Enluxtra treatment for, just like the sickle cell patients, they also experience issues with oxygen-starved tissues and consequent poor healing.
