Nurses, are new reporting requirements putting you under more pressure?

You’re a pro. You assess skin integrity within 24 hours after admission, treat pressure ulcers to keep them from declining AND work diligently to ensure new ones don’t develop. But sometimes your best efforts may not be enough. That could cost your facility big time under the new program that will take effect in 2016.

The first quality  measure under the new SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP) and SNF Value Based Purchasing program is Percent of Residents With Pressure Ulcers That Are New or Worsened (Short Stay). The numerator for this calculation includes all residents with coding indicating one or more new or worsening Stage II-IV pressure ulcers.
Data will be collected using the MDS 3.0 via the Quality Improvement and Evaluation (QIES) ASAP System
Plans for a future update would require reporting of unstageable pressure ulcers, including suspected deep tissue injuries.

Beginning with FY 2018, SNFs that do not satisfactorily report required quality data to CMS under the SNF QRP will have their market basket percentage updates reduced by two percentage points.

Enluxtra Smart Wound Dressing can help here. Inexpensive yet highly advanced and effective, Enluxtra not only accelerates the healing process and prevents pressure ulcers worsening, but also jump-starts the healing of the most difficult, stagnant, and stalled pressure ulcers.

The earlier Enluxtra is started on a pressure ulcer, the faster the ulcer will improve and the better the quality reporting will be! That means improved quality measures, better outcomes for your patients and higher Medicare payments for your facility.

I am very interested in bringing this to supervisor's attention as I deal with numerous types of wounds but multiple diabetic wounds/ amputations that are not healing well.
