The first quality measure under the new SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP) and SNF Value Based Purchasing program is Percent of Residents With Pressure Ulcers That Are New or Worsened (Short Stay). The numerator for this calculation includes all residents with coding indicating one or more new or worsening Stage II-IV pressure ulcers. Data will be collected using the MDS 3.0 via the Quality Improvement and Evaluation (QIES) ASAP System
Plans for a future update would require reporting of unstageable pressure ulcers, including suspected deep tissue injuries.
Beginning with FY 2018, SNFs that do not satisfactorily report required quality data to CMS under the SNF QRP will have their market basket percentage updates reduced by two percentage points.
